One of my favorite quotes from Frederick Douglass is from his speech where he talks about what should be done with the Negro after emancipation.
Douglass affirmatively tells his majority white audience, ‘What shall we do with the Negro?’ Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us.”
I am reminded of this when I see articles referring to Stacy Abrams problem reaching black men.
You know Stacey. She is the supposed leader of New Birth Church in Atlanta.
You know Stacey, she is the one who’s Fair Fight Action organization pressured the MLB into moving of the All-Star game from Atlanta in an expression of faux outrage at the Georgia Voting Law year.
And, it’s moves like this that have caused her to have an issue with black men. What she failed to realize is that a number economic opportunities were lost for a number of residents in Atlanta, but black men in particular.
What liberals and progressives like Stacey Abrams have failed to realize is that when you constantly demonize men and blame them for all of the ills that have taken place in the world, those same people will not be as eager to check your name in the ballot box.
60 years of a war on black men has taken a toll.
Finally, black men, especially black christian men are realizing that the Democratic Party does not want or desire their voice.
They want their vote, but they do not want to provide any solutions that affect their lives.
When the war on poverty began during LBJ, the net effect of this was the rejection of the biblical family in the black community.
The biblical family consists of a man and a woman in a covenant relationship under the guidance of God.
Out of this covenant relationship are borne children that are brought up in a home based on biblical values.
This structure leads to stability in communities.
However, with the advent of the government injecting itself into the family dynamic, more and more families were broken. The unwed mother rate in the black community has skyrocketed.
Black women were convinced by white liberal feminists that they are the backbone of the community and thus a man is optional, not necessary. This has led many men to, unfortunately, abandon their God given responsibilities to lead and shepherd their families.
Children are now wandering aimlessly in the streets causing chaos.
And what has the Democratic party done to resolve these things? Nothing. They have doubled down on the same failed policies that created the mess in the first place.
Every single policy pushed by the Democratic Party leads to victimization or oppression. The culture that has been set up by liberals, progressives and marxists groom men to become victims.
Black men are entrepreneurial by nature.
Black men are creative by nature.
Black men are leaders by nature.
Most black men buck against that culture because deep down inside, they want to tap into that God given position of leadership that is innate in all men.
So, the black man looks at the Democratic Party and sees no hope. Yet, when he looks to the Republican Party, he sees a no vacancy sign even though the rooms are empty.
In other words, he is not welcome. And if they do allow him to come in, he must strip off anything that makes him look black and put on the persona of a eunuch.
The Republican Party wants black men to conform and be safe. One cannot have an opinion that goes against the orthodoxy or you will be silenced.
Republicans would rather include the black woman in their tent instead of the black man.
What should the black man do?
Understand that the only party that is worth our affection is the party of Jesus Christ. He is the one who will provide for all of our needs. He is the one who will ensure that opportunities are brought our way for success.
Then, we can sit back and judge which one of the parties is worthy of our affiliation.
We can then use the Word of God and biblical principles to reign in the destruction in our communities.
We can then kick out the politicians and activists that want to dismantle the western prescribed patriarchy.
Because we are not victims. We are empowered for greatness.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll pray that our Republican leaders will have the courage to step it up. Thank God for Pres. Trump!
Shawn, what can the Republican party do to include black men? Can you expound on what you see is driving them away?
