Black voters must own their political clout to demand real change
Black voters need to declare independence from both political parties
The Bible talks about how we are in the world, but not of the world. We have to live in this world, but we do not have to adopt or affirm the culture. The way the world does things should not influence how we approach things and situations. In essence, our worldview should be shaped by our relationship to God in Christ and through His Word. Not by what is popular in culture.
This independent mindset is what we need as black voters. Over 80% of black folks vote for the Democratic party. That is 8 out of 10. And what has that provided for the black community over the past 60 years. A bi-racial President who instituted laws and policies targeted at Christians which further crippled subsequent generations. Or, the “welfare state” where it is more profitable for women to have children without men in the home. Or, the self-sabotaging of our progeny through the support of Planned Parenthood and other “community health” organizations.
With all of the evidence showing the harmful effects of liberal, progressive policies in the black community, you would think that black voters would leave the Democratic Party in droves.
Blexit had this same idea. The premise behind “Blexit” was to illuminate the lack of solutions provided by the Democratic Party and give black voters the push that they needed for a mass exodus from the Democratic Party.
Well, it hasn’t turned out that way. In the last few election cycles, Republicans have garnered a scant 9 to 13 percent of the black vote. With the majority of that movement happening amongst black men.
So, where did Blexit go wrong?
I believe it went wrong because of the lack of an emphasis on the independent mindset that is prevalent within the black community. Black folks are not a monolith, despite what the media wants to proclaim. Black people have always had a streak of independence and rebellion coursing through their veins. This is why patriots such as Crispus Attucks was willing to sacrifice his life for a fledging republic. That is why Nat Turner would lead a rebellion against the atrocities committed against him and other black slaves.
It’s this independent mindset that was not properly diagnosed. Along with the elephant in the room, which is Establishment Republicans have done a poor job courting the black vote. While Democrats neglect and take the black vote for granted, Establishment Republicans have no true incentive to increase black voter turnout.
Establishment Republicans would rather use the so-called, “Sailer strategy”, named after Steve Sailer. Who argues that it is more advantageous to spike the rural white vote to record levels while effectively ignoring all other voting blocs.
The point is that neither party has the desire or incentive to offer substantive, innovative solutions to the true problems that plague the black community.
Therefore, black voters must take it upon themselves to strike out on their own. I’m not advocating for the creation of a new party just for Black voters, such as the National Black Independent Political Party. However, what I’m saying is that the black community needs to start demanding solutions from both parties. Use their political clout to elect representatives and leaders that will honor all of the tired promises that have been made to the community over the last 6 decades.
Black voters need to take it upon themselves to untether the umbilical cord to the Democratic Party. This does not mean all should flock to the Republican Party. What this does mean is that if you find yourself still affiliated with a party, don’t have a party first mindset. Especially in the Democratic Party as that platform is antithetical to biblical values.
Black voters should approach each party as if the parties were the world. They should operate within it, but not become it.
What you said is pretty much what Martin Luther King Jr said back in the 60's.

And of course theres what Malcolm X said about Negros voting for Democrats....

I really enjoyed your column. While I realize that it is common to refer to black, white or other communities based on race, your column speaks to a universal principle; mainly, that we are all children of God. As I read your writing, I couldn’t help but think that we should all adopt the mentality you espouse, that we all need to break our ties with both parties when we vote. We need to use our political power as a group to demand solutions. I just worry that we are faced with a Hobson’s choice. If we vote against one party out of principle alone as means of punishing the other party, we might find ourselves voting for someone we find repugnant. The inverse would be true as well. Nevertheless, I certainly agree with your message, so please keep writing it!
