“Their webs will not become garments, Nor will they cover themselves with their works; Their works are works of iniquity, And the act of violence is in their hands. Their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; Wasting and destruction are in their paths.”
Isaiah 59:6-7 NKJV
I couldn’t help but to be appalled when I watched the disturbing body cam video of the five police officers in Memphis assaulting and terrorizing Tyre Nichols earlier this month.
How can five men, black men specifically, chase down and beat one man over what appears to be a minor offense?
Where is their humanity, I thought?
Then it hit me, they are displaying the tell-tale signs of a society that has turned its back on God.
Human Depravity.
Despite what Van Jones and others on the progressive side may think, it was not racism that caused the death of Tyre Nichols.
It was the depravity in the hearts of those officers.
I say depravity because any person with any shred of empathy for the life of another human being would immediately recognize the damage that was being inflicted upon Tyre Nichols.
Yet, no one stepped up to put a stop to it.
Instead, it continued on. It’s akin to when someone is being hazed while attempting to pledge in a fraternity.
People who should have and could have intervened did not.
Unfortunately, this is not the first nor will it be the last time that individuals and members of the state clash.
Has anyone seen videos of the January 6 protests and the attacks against American citizens at the hands of the DC Metro police?
Whenever a society abandons God, civility and human decently is replaced with lawlessness and cold-heartedness.
There is a lack of value for the lives of individuals.
This was not like Rodney King.
Anyone who wants to paint this as proof of systemic racism is lazy and divisive.
Their only aim is to gin up hatred and strife between ethnicities in order to tear down and remake America in a communist, marxist image.
I would rather pray for a return to biblical values and a civil society.
Otherwise, we will see more and more of these unfortunate and disturbing events.
Please pray for peace and comfort to the families of Tyre Nichols and those officers.
Well said, Shawn!
The cops were depraved and should pay for the atrocity, the murder they committed. But Tyre Nichols’ mom was so filled with grace and wisdom, i was just blown away by her. She is who i will remember and thank God for.
