One of the frustrating experiences as a Black man is the constant refrain that we are less than.
Because we are black, we are less than white people.
Because we are black men, we are less than human.
Because we are the black community, we are less than other communities.
Because our children are black, they are less intelligent.
These lies have been spoken over the black race for centuries.
Unfortunately, the delusion that is produced from accepting these lies continue to bear fruit.
For instance, the Supreme Court ruled that race cannot be used in college admissions.
I’ve argued for a long time that affirmative action has not benefited black students.
Thomas Sowell aptly describes this inconvenient truth in his book the Economics and Politics of Race.Â
Yet, if you were to read the quotes from the Black Bougie Elite, you would think that ruling ended all chances for black students in America.
The sad truth is that the Black Bougie elites benefit the most from Affirmative Action.
It allows them to continue to pump out the narrative that America is systemically racist.
While they ignore the failing schools, dilapidated buildings and lack of fathers in the homes.
Instead of acknowledging the agency of every black child, they perpetuate victimhood.
Until we as black people reject the lie of less than, we will continue to live substandard lives.
How do you reject a lie? Embrace Truth.
Truth that only comes from an identity based on Christ.
Otherwise, the lie will continue to permeate in impressionable black minds.
